Eurofiber and Proximus sign agreement for joint venture fiber roll-out Wallonia
More than 500,000 households and thousands of businesses and organizations to be connected
Brussels, Maarssen, 30 October 2020 – Eurofiber and Proximus have signed an agreement to form a joint venture aimed at building an extensive fiber network in Wallonia together. The main objective of the partnership is to enlarge and accelerate the roll-out of Fiber-to-the-Home in a cost-efficient way, while ensuring access for all interested parties under open access and non-discriminatory terms. The contracts signed last Wednesday are subject to the approval of the relevant regulatory authorities and are to be executed immediately after the corresponding approvals.
On 30 July, Eurofiber and Proximus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which has now been converted in a final agreement. Part of this agreement is the creation of a joint venture to design, build, maintain and upgrade the network, which will be open and accessible for all.
