Eurofiber sells stake in Unifiber to Proximus
Eurofiber has reached an agreement to sell to Proximus its 50.01% stake in Unifiber, a joint venture established to deploy an open-access fiber-to-the-home network in Wallonia, in a transaction that values that stake in Unifiber at EUR 75m (implying an Enterprise Value of approximately EUR 560m).
Unifiber was created in 2021 by Eurofiber and Proximus to accelerate the rollout of fiber-to-the-home infrastructure in medium-density areas in Wallonia. Since its inception, the joint venture has made substantial progress, with the rollout well on schedule and approximately 230,000 homes and businesses now passed out of more than 300,000 living units.
From the outset, Eurofiber’s role in the joint venture was to support the development of a high-quality, open-access fiber-to-the-home network and, over time, transfer its stake. With the network rollout well advanced and Unifiber performing strongly, Eurofiber considers this a natural moment to complete that transition.
Together with Proximus, we have successfully built a strong foundation for open fiber-to-the-home infrastructure in Wallonia. We are proud of what has been achieved with the Unifiber team, which has successfully delivered on its objectives and created a strong foundation in the market. With the network rollout well on track, this is the right moment to transfer our stake to Proximus. At the same time, this transaction allows us to further sharpen our strategic focus on our core activities: delivering B2B digital infrastructure services across Europe, including Belgium, which remains an important market for Eurofiber.
Eurofiber will continue to offer connectivity services to its customers over the Unifiber network, ensuring continuity for business clients and partners. The open-access nature of the network remains unchanged, allowing service providers to benefit from a high-quality, neutral infrastructure.
