Organizations rely on secure and reliable digital infrastructure every day. As the digital economy continues to grow, so does the demand for energy, equipment, and materials. That is why Eurofiber is developing datacenters that enable digital progress while reducing the impact on the world around us.

Sustainability is not an afterthought for us. Our ESG strategy focuses on Environmental, Social, and Governance priorities. We aim to increase our positive contribution and reduce our negative impact through lower CO₂ emissions, smarter energy use, greater circularity, responsible sourcing, and a continued focus on privacy and security. Our ambition is to become fully climate neutral by 2040.

Circularity plays a central role in achieving this goal. A significant share of environmental impact occurs throughout the supply chain, from equipment manufacturing and material use to transport, maintenance, and end-of-life processing. By making smarter choices, increasing the use of recycled materials, and enabling reuse wherever possible, we reduce pressure on natural resources and lower carbon emissions. Circularity therefore supports multiple ESG objectives at once: reducing emissions, minimizing waste, and driving greater responsibility across the value chain.

Eurofiber uses renewable electricity for its own operations.

HVO for backup power systems

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) replaces conventional diesel wherever possible.

Liquid cooling in Groningen

The HPC datacenter supports demanding AI and HPC workloads.

Waste heat recovery through WarmteStad Groningen

Eurofiber can return residual heat to the Groningen region through WarmteStad.

Sustainable sourcing

Sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility are becoming increasingly important criteria in supplier assessments.

More circular use of materials

Eurofiber is working towards more sustainable material choices and increasing the use of recycled materials.

Privacy & security as a foundation

Sustainability goes hand in hand with the highest standards of security, continuity, and reliability.

Smarter use of energy, cooling, and waste heat

At our datacenters, we continuously optimize energy consumption, cooling, backup power, maintenance, equipment, material selection, and supplier management. This practical approach brings our ESG strategy to life by combining long-term ambition with measurable action.

Cooling is a key focus area. Servers must operate reliably under all circumstances, which is why we continuously look for ways to improve cooling efficiency. Where possible, we use free cooling and advanced cooling technologies. Our HPC datacenter in Groningen supports demanding AI and HPC workloads through liquid cooling, enabling higher computing performance with greater energy efficiency.

In Groningen, waste heat is given a second life. The datacenter is connected to WarmteStad Groningen, allowing Eurofiber to return residual heat from the datacenter to the Groningen region. Heat that would otherwise be lost can be reused, creating additional value for the local community.

These efficiencies also benefit our customers. Server rooms located in offices or business premises often consume more energy per server than a professional datacenter environment. By combining scale, specialist expertise, and continuous optimization, Eurofiber enables customers to house their digital infrastructure in a more reliable and sustainable way.

ESG

Sustainability starts in the supply chain

At Eurofiber, sustainability extends beyond our own datacenters. We are embedding sustainable procurement more deeply into our operations and working with key suppliers to gain greater insight into material usage, labor conditions, human rights, business ethics, and lifecycle impact. These insights help us make better-informed decisions when selecting new equipment, carrying out maintenance, replacing assets, and further developing our datacenters.

To measure and improve ESG performance, we use internationally recognized assessment frameworks such as EcoVadis. All eight Dutch Eurofiber datacenters have been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing Eurofiber Cloud Infra BV among the top 5% of organizations assessed by EcoVadis. The assessment evaluates policies, objectives, actions, and supporting evidence across environmental performance, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

For customers, this provides additional assurance that ESG is not a standalone initiative but an integral part of how Eurofiber delivers its services and operates its infrastructure.
