Environmental Responsibility
Through climate action and close collaboration with our stakeholders, we are working toward becoming a Net Zero company. We continue to reduce our climate impact by cutting CO₂ emissions across fiber network operations and data centers. This also includes transportation, mobility, and the use of renewable energy.
Our ambition
Our ambition is to become a Net Zero company by 2040. In 2023, Eurofiber Group’s CO₂ reduction targets were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), aligning with the Paris Agreement goal to keep global warming below 1.5°C.
Eurofiber aims to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 100% by 2030, and Scope 3 emissions by 50% in 2030 and 100% by 2040, compared to the 2021 baseline. We are committed to increasing the active annual use of renewable electricity from 95% in 2021 to 100% by 2025, and maintaining that level every year thereafter.
Energy and CO₂ Reduction
Eurofiber is determined to lower CO₂ emissions across all business activities. To achieve this, we invest in innovation and apply new technologies in our networks and data centers.
Thanks to various initiatives, our Scope 1 and 2 emissions have already been reduced:
- Replacing equipment in our data centers with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient technology
- Phasing out natural gas for office heating
- Introducing a leasing program for fully electric vehicles
Circularity
Material consumption places increasing pressure on the planet, society, and the economy. As an operator of fiber networks and data centers, we use significant amounts of materials. That’s why we aim to achieve 100% circular products in our networks by 2030 for new builds, maintenance, and replacements.
Every day, we work to reduce our CO₂ impact through initiatives such as:
- Calculating the CO₂ footprint of key products using Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
- Returning modems (CPEs) for reuse
