The Erasmus MC, University Medical Centre Rotterdam, is investing a lot in technology renewal. The WIFI solution illustrates this well. The medical centre worked together with telecom operator Orange to enable the secure use of mobile phones within the confines of a hospital. It is the first project of its kind in Europe. The medical centre is also at the cutting edge in its deployment of IP applications. It should come as no surprise therefore, that the Erasmus MC chose a fibre-optic network as basis for this and all other ICT applications, thus providing the necessary leeway for ongoing innovation.
